image suggestions

I would like to make a few suggestions regarding images.
1) it would be nice if when uploading photos into the media library, via the ‘upload/insert>add image button’ on the post edit page, that you could insert each one and then save changes rather than have the ‘insert into post’ button automatically save and only insert one photo. I know this is similar to adding a gallery, but if the user does not want to add them as a gallery it would be nice to have this option.
2) on the flip side it would be nice to have an option to create a gallery from images already in the library
3) I am not sure what kind of server resources the attachment pages use, but it would be nice if all images could be linked to an attachment page irregardless of whether they are part of a gallery or not, so that commenting could be done on each individual photo if the user would like to allow it.
oh and one more (for now anyway, lol)
4) it would be nice if in the settings page there was a ‘return to default’ button on the media size settings pageps I want to thank the staff for all the work you are doing and appreciate you taking the time to read and consider all the suggestions us users throw at you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Number 3 is a good idea. I would also like to add that we should be able to put different galleries on one page so we can sort them into albums.

#3 would make a lot of people who don’t like the attachment pages very cranky.
If you want #3 to happen, just click “link to post” before inserting normal images and it will bring up the attachment page.
#2 is possible also. All you have to do is to hand write the gallery code and use the “include” attribute and a comma separated list of the image ID numbers. A little more work, but it can be done.

TheSacredPath, thanks for the information. I will check out the one you mention about creating attachment pages.
As for the one about changing the gallery code. Well I guess that was kind of my point, I was wanting to suggest that it would be nice if there was just a button that you could select to add a picture in your medial library to your gallery. For instance a “add to post gallery” or something like that. I know we can currently change the gallery code in the HTML view of the edit window box, but it is tedious to have to open the medial library page, hover over a image to get the id number, then go back to the edit post page and change the HTML code. (it is especially tedious for me because I have other things in my status bar at the bottom of my FF browser window, so I can not easily see the id number. Fortunately for me I have multiple monitors so I can expand my window to more than one monitor so that the status bar is long enough to view the id number) (I did recently discover another way to get the id number without having to change my window size over and over, I right click on the image in the medial library and then go click on properties, the id number is listed in there, but this is still a lot of extra steps)
I know that some of the suggestion I make, asking for quicker methods of doing things may require a lot of behind the scenes code adjustment, so I do not imagine them to be things that could appear instantly. I just make the suggestions so they can be out there.

TSP and TT, do you mean as readers you would not want attachment pages? or as the blogger?
I guess I should have said in my suggestion “#3)” that it would be nice if the individual blogger could have the choice (like some kind of setting choice). Also of course I would only mean for photos that are actually attached to a post. If they were not attached to anything they really would not need to have a attachment page for commenting on.

Attachment pages simply put the same sized image on a blank blog-styled page with comments, sidebar and such. When I click on a link, I am looking to see the full-sized image. If you use the attachment page, then I click on an image and get the attachment page and then have to click on the image again to see the full-sized image. It’s an extra step, but if your aim is to give people a chance to comment, then that is the only way.
When I click on an image and get an attachment page, unless I’m REALLY interested in seeing the full-sized image, I simply hit the browser back button and move on. That’s me. For others it might be different.

TSP, from what I have noticed, if the image in the post is just a thumbnail, the one on the Attachment page is not the same size it is actually bigger (I think it is what would be considered ‘medium’. Yeah I can see how it would be an extra click for someone to see an image full size. Even if my suggestion wasn’t enacted/created, gallery images already do just what you say you do not like. So any time that someone uses the gallery function to add images to a post you would have to click on the image more than once to get to the full size image. Unless they change the ‘link thumbnail’ setting from the default ‘Attachment page’ to ‘image file’ in the Gallery settings. At that point it is again a choice for the blogger, so I was just trying to suggest that it would be nice to be able to choose whether or not we wanted all photos to be linked to an Attachment page.
Oh and I have been testing that “post url” button that you mentioned, and the thing about that is that it is only available when you are inserting the image for the first time directly into the post, but it is not available if you are adding an image that is already in your medial library. In that instance it is basically redundant, except for the fact that if I do want to break my gallery up throughout the text in my post, then I could just use the “post url” button each time I upload a photo in the post instead of inserting the whole gallery and altering the short code with the ‘exclude’ information.
gosh I rambled and ran on I hope some of what I said made sense.
