Image text alignment

Apologies if this is answered somewhere, but I haven’t been able to find the answer to this in the forums or support.
In my latest post (http://keekhole.wordpress.com/) I’ve added an image and right aligned it. When I look at the post in Visual mode in my Dashboard, the image and image text look fine – ie the image text “Snow” is centered below the image, in the gray box. (Am using Freshy theme.) But in the published post, “Snow” seems to also be right aligned under the image, and it just doesn’t look good.
Could it be that the image text automatically takes the same alignment as the image (I’ve tried various options, none with the desired result), and there is noting I can do about it? Although I feel there ought to be an option for this…?

The only thing I can think of that might work is to make the text the same width as the image… Any ideas?

I am also having problems with alignement/width of the caption vs the picture width. Sometimes the caption wraps to the same width, sometimes it does not wrap at all, witb the caption stretching way out beyond the photo. See http://thecreativecat.wordpress.com The caption is not always centered under the picture, either (see two doors photo) I don’t like all that border to the left and right of the photo.

What I would like to see is the caption wrapped to same width as picture. I don’t know anything about HTML but I bet something could be done there to make things look the way I want them.

And how do I get the picture to appear where I want it in the post–add media in HTML or Visual mode? Not clear in another post.

    Thanks!

@nessella, My suggestion is to send this information into support so that they can look at the CSS. Something seems weird there. Include a full description and links to the posts so that they can easily get to them.

@thecreativecat, there is only the hello world post on your blog dated 2/3/09, nothing else at all.

My suggestion is to write all the text first and then insert the images. When you get ready to upload or insert an image, save the post and when it is finished, place the cursor in the text where you want the image. Then insert or upload and insert the image making sure to select the proper alignment and such before you click “insert into post.” It can be done either in visual or HTML, it doesn’t matter which. Just make sure the cursor is where you want the image.

As far as caption alignment and text wrap, again you are going to have to take that up with staff. It would though be good to have samples of what is happening for them to look at and provide links. http://support.wordpress.com/contact/

Sacred Path, thanks for your responses. I do have only one post, but click on the “More” button to see the offending picture of 2 blue doors on a brick building. The quilt picture at the very top of the post is the way I want things.

I generally do add the pictures after writing the text. Somewhere I remember seeing something about the default location being the top of the post, but you can get it to go in the text at your curser location if you do SOMETHING! Of course, this late at night, and after 4 hours of trying new stuff, my mind could be clearer!

I am pretty new (3 days experience) at blogging, and I probably insert photos differently each time I attempt it. I have not been very successful at getting the picture to go where I want it right off the bat, but I will check out the video area to see if they have something useful. Comparing the HTML of the two pictures, there are several mysterious differences. I probably ought to look at something on beginning HTML, so I know what the media-related HTML means.

I also want to learn about adding media from the media gallery,as well as making gallery posts, or whatever you might call it. I have lots to learn! But I am very pleased with how things are looking, in general.

Thanks for your suggestions to me and others–you show up in a lot of the forum areas I have seen!

I would still contact staff on this. The image caption thing has too many problems and inconsistencies and seems to vary in problems from theme to theme. That is why I simply won’t use the captions.

WordPress needs to work on this and get it straightened out.

If you contact staff, make sure and tell them to click on the more tag to see the blue doors image.

    Hi thesacredpath,

Ah, so it’s not just me doing it the wrong way – thanks, I will contact support about it!
(It hadn’t occurred to me to not use the caption, but that’s actually not a bad idea…) Thanks again.
