Image Titles Appear when mouse is over picture
-
Recently (not sure when or why it happened – as it wasn’t like this a few weeks ago) on my website when you scroll your mouse over an image the “file name” appears. A web design company created my site and never told me that I need to have purposeful names for each image. So they are really random with addresses, names, numbers, etc. I clearly do not want these to show when someone visits my site. How do I:
1) Hide these names from external visitors that look on my site – so all they see is the image
2) Are they needed for SEO – or is the “title” or “alt text” what is important?
3) If they are needed for SEO – how do I change them to something better BUT I still want to hide them – as in even if I change them to Green Living Room – I don’t want that to show over the image when someone is looking at it.
* I look at other people’s sites in my industry and they do not have these image files names (ugly or not) show up on their images.I know nothing about how to do this and don’t want to start messing with it and crash my site. The web designer said all I have to do is go under images and change the title – but it is not the title that shows … it is the original name that was given to the image, like washingon0987. that type of thing. Can someone advise me?
Thank you so much!
