image turns up as title only, after sending it to editor. HELP!

  • Unknown's avatar

    I try to upload my images in the right size and file but they turn into a title description after sending it to editor (even when it is on ‘visual’).. If I do a preview there is no image to see. If I put on ‘miniatur’before sending it to editor it does turn up as an image but when I enlarge it the image gets really blurry.

    Is there someone to help me?

    Thank you so much in advance!

    Not sure if these have anything to do with your problem, but check them out anyway:

    When creating and uploading an image to wordpress.com here are some basics worth remembering:
    (1) Be sure your image is one of these file types – jpg, jpeg, png, gif (Note that bmp’s cannot be uploaded due to size).
    (2) Do not use anything in the file name except letters and numbers. Use no spaces, no dashes, no underscores, or any type of special character or punctuation, except for the dot between the file name and the extension. Also make sure that the file name has an extension. (example: filename.jpg)
    (3) If you are using iPhoto, then use the “export” function under the file menu to export the image to your desktop before trying to upload it to WordPress.
    (4) If you are not using the image in thumbnail size, make sure that the image is not too wide for the post area in your particular theme. You can find maximum image widths for the most popular themes here: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/25/how-big-can-my-images-be/
    (5) Optimize your images so that your blog pages will load faster. See http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/08/optimise-your-images/

    @carlinehuge
    Is this your blog? http://carlinehuge.wordpress.com/
    If so is it the one where you are having image trouble?
    I’m asking because I do see images on it using firefox 2.0.0.7

    I see images as well, and it appears like the second image down is too wide for the available space. In your theme, the widest your images can be is 410px.

    yes, thats the strange thing about it. I managed before to put some images online, but today it doesn’t seem to work out. (Today I tried about 4 different images, and none of it worked out)… Hmm. .. firefox 2.0.0.7? Can that be the problem?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Maybe you can take a look at my blog. The latest two are to show you the problem. The top imgae is actually 494 kb and the one below it says just ‘ach.jpg’ . Isn’t that weird?

    I uploaded a copy of SciAm.com Einstine’s Math (where in this title I spelled Einstein wrong) after the 1st part of my blog Anologies (where I spelled Analogies wrong). as you can see I am very new at bloging. Next I uploaded 5 immages in 1 frame to the left of 3rd part of Analogy to THEORY OF EVERYTHING on 10-1-07 along with 2 other immages.
    Since then in my next part I can’t get any immage to upload no matter what I try. Help !!
    Please.

    @carlinehuge
    I see two almost identical images, blue and sort of a yellowish green with ACH on the left and JA on the right (the top image is pixelated).

    Try emptying your cache and then force-reloading your blog page.

    @jackbecommspeednet
    I’m not sure what is going on with yours, but you do need to be aware that the maximum image width for the post area on your blog is 500px and it appears you have some that are wider than that which can cause you problems. The Mystery of dark energy and Fermet’s spiral are the ones I’m specifically talking about.

    See the links on image sizes and on optimizing images in my post a few up from here.

    Also, try logging out, clearing your browser cache and deleting your cookies and then logging back in and see if you can insert images.

    can you tell me what web-browser you use? Firefox shows me only the pixalated one (topone) and not the one below.. thank you for your time!!

  • Unknown's avatar

    I’m on Mac and use both FF and Safari, and both of the images show for me in both of my browsers. Since I’m seeing the images, there is a very high likelihood all of your visitors can too. Give it an hour or two to see if you can see them.

    I have looked at your blog and see that you are copying and pasting some things that are so large that they threaten to break the layout of your blog. This is the link thesacredpath gave you http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/25/how-big-can-my-images-be/
    The theme you are using is called “Simpla” and the largest image you can upload into a blogging space is … 500px.

    You can find out which version of Internet Explorer (IE) you are using this way: With Internet Explorer open select ‘Help’ from the top menu bar and click ‘About Internet Explorer’. You will see the version of Internet Explorer displayed in the ‘Version:’ field just beneath the Internet…

    The thing about browsers and images is that if your readers use a firefox browser that browser will attempt to re-size the images so they can be seen as whole. If your readers use IE then know that it will NOT do what firefox does. It makes no attempt to render the images at all. Therefore, you need to do what thesacredpath said above. All the points he raised are important ones. :)
