Image Upload Bug!
-
>>>I can’t even see the complete box to upload a picture. Half of it is hidden well beneath the my taskbar making it impossible to to hit “upload” wherever that might be.
Same problem here, and my resolution is 1400×1050 (since someone asked earlier on). The “Add media” window is partly hidden beneath the taskbar, and I can’t grab it and move it. I can upload pictures, but there’s little point if I can’t actually insert them. (Yes, I could hotlink to them, but I’d rather not do that – I’d rather not leech bandwidth from some other site, and what if they take down the pic?
For the record, I’m using Win XP and Internet Explorer 7.

FYI: I’ve already exchanged 13 e-mails with WordPress support and they have no idea what’s going on regarding the image uploading problem I mentioned before (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=25521&page=2&replies=61#post-184571), which many other people seem to be experiencing. No solution in sight. In fact, a number of the e-mails sent back to me simply asked questions that were already covered in previous e-mails.

I can’t upload images either. Previously saved drafts are ok, but just get a blank box when I try to insert image into post.

Looks like TSP has come up with a solution for IE7 users:

And for uploading itself, he’s got another solution:

@ mikecane: Yep, it’s a .jpg. Thanks for following up!
Interesting: I switched over to IE just now and was able to post the image fine. But Firefox, no dice.

I wonder if browser settings or even anti-viral program settings might be contributing to these problems? Could the popup window be regarded as something either an ad blocker or anti-viral program would suppress?
-
And I forgot. Contacting Support fixed my Gallery image ordering problem.
Before, just using the [ gallery ] shortcode, it was putting photo 09 before photo 01.
These were recommended to me by Support: [ gallery orderby=”post_title ASC” ] or
[ gallery orderby=”post_title DESC” ]— the first one worked! Correctly ordering the photos from 01-09 (the second will do 09-01).
(Of course take out the spaces I put there near the square brackets!)

Support gave me this solution: “Make sure you have the latest Flash installed, clear the browsers cache and try again” – My system is Firefox 2.0.0.13 running on Linux (Kubuntu 6.04). Well, it worked (sort of: I can upload files, but the upload dialog box is only partly visible).
-
>>>but the upload dialog box is only partly visible
What do you mean by that? I show the steps here:
http://mikecane2008.wordpress.com/2008/04/05/howto-upload-photos-to-wordpress-25/Click on the one that’s giving you problems, then copy the URL for that pic and paste it here so we can see where the problem is.

mikecane: This is the dialog box that is only partly visible. The whole window (the one not greyed out) has a fixed size, too small to contain all the text and it is not resizeable or movable. Furthermore, after the upload has completed, it shows the actual file, the ‘caption’ and ‘title’ boxes multiple times, stacked above each other. (If you can give me an e-mail addy, I can mail you a screendump).

I’m not WordPress Support. I was just wondering what problem it was you were seeing. Did you download the latest version of Flash and Shockwave?
Ah, I see Support did make you get the latest Flash.
I’m stumped. Sorry.
-
FYI: Here I was, myself thinking I had all the necessary updates. I didn’t! I actually didn’t have the latest Shockwave player.
You can test for the latest version of Flash and Shockwave at this page:

I’m using Internet Explorer. Two nights ago I had no problem posting images with the “new and improved” WordPress. Last night, however, I ran into the same problem as everyone else — saying the image is “crunching” and then once I hit the button to upload, there’s a gray screen that just sits there doing nothing. I use my blog for my photography business, so this is really putting me in a bad situation. I do have the latest Flash…
-
@ maggie: Could you try Safari or Firefox? Possible workarounds til they sort it out. Others have had success trying a different browser. My sympathies to everyone having problems. The first hour of the change, it didn’t work properly at all and I was in a panic too.

To download Safari browser:

(Mac/Windows)To download Firefox:
(Should be Firefox 2.x — stay away from beta 3, which is giving problems)

I have done all the above :( No dice. I get a blank screen when I go to post image :(
I have a photography business too, so this is bad news for me :(
