Image upload in post – image link problem

    image upload to post
    I’ve been using this for several months without problem.
    I save the image to my desktop and then browse to upload to my post.
    Now when I upload an image, the link url defaults to:http://xxx.com/wp-content/uploads//2010/09/xxx.jpg
    and the file is saved correctly to : /public_html/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/09
    The post can’t find the file after I save it.

    I edit the image link and find
    ../../../../uploads//2010/09/xxx.jpg
    it has a protocol of ‘other’

    I look on my server and the upload has created a folder
    /public_html/http:xxx.comwp-contentuploads

    I have verified WP Media Settings
    Store uploads in this folder = wp-content/uploads
    Full URL path to files =

    I have been editing the link to the correct url but his is a pain.
    Any ideas?
