image upload problem

  • Unknown's avatar

Having problems with image uploader with an image (jpg) which I tried on photobucket where it uploaded fine. I have plenty of experience uploading pics, but right now I just get the red x instead of the image. I am on 24% capacity. I am using IE7 with XP. I am on a wireless connection, but that would not explain the failure here if with the same conditions photobucket worked. I sent a support note.

If it’s already loaded on photobucket, use that URL instead of the WordPress one. And sometimes I get the red X in the Upload box even though when I place the image in the post it works just fine. Loads as a big black box, but looks fine on the site.

Thanks, raincoaster. I uploaded to photobucket after the WordPress upload failed so I would have an alternative, so the pic is now on view, from photobucket — but I really prefer WP for blog pics. Usually don’t have a problem.

Must have been a temporary issue. Tried again and it has worked.

I’m experiencing same behavior- it is inconsistant though. Sometimes I upload a couple of images file (preview/pic appears, no red-x) but then things get wacky and everything I try to upload becomes red-x, and sometimes even when I “Browse” images that have been uploaded and are working now appear as a red-x when I browse. I’m not sure if it’s a resource issue, but I’ve done a clean reboot and basically went straight to wordpress and I may get the red-x on first image…

It’s weird- it seems to have something to do with image width to me- my standard was 320 wide but when I try to go to 400 or 425 it never works, but then again sometimes the same 320 wide image will not load on a fresh post.

Anyone with more suggestions on what may be going on? (I am resizing via Paint Shop Pro, not the image tag).

  • This should now be fixed. If you are still having issues, please send in feedback.

Still have similar problems as others have mentioned. Images I try to upload either upload as a red-x or a blank box. If I send the image to my post, sometimes the thumbnail appears and sometimes it’s the red-x. Either way, when you click on the thumbnail in the post, youI get a 404 – File Not Found error.

sometimes images that i upload will become a red-x after a while even though it did appear correctly the first time i upload it. the strange thing is i can see the preview image in the my upload section but trying to view it, i will get a red-x

Well, with me right now NONE of the images on my blog are uploading. I think it is a WordPress issue at the server maybe or something similar?

I’ve been having similar issues. Images uploaded weeks ago that have been fine are now appearing as blue question mark boxes and I’m having trouble uploading new ones. It seems really random because some work fine and others don’t.

    Kinda frustrating.

Please send a support – I can then notify you when the problem is completely solved – though that should be minutes from now anyway.

    It is now fixed.

The photos in my sidebar widget are still not loading. Just have the box with the X and when I look at my uploads they are all just X’s.

  • Unknown's avatar

    bookbabie – I fixed that for you. I see no X’s ?

I have the same problem right now. The pictures won’t upload, and I get red X’s instead of the picture.

fashionfiles – which images? The ones I see here:
    http://fashionfiles.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php
    are okay.

  • Unknown's avatar

Hm… I can’t see them.. It`s just X’s. What can be the problem then?

All of my images have disappeared. I can’t see them on my “Manage Uploads” page or on my blog. All I can see is the title text—I’m not even getting a red X. Strange!

Okay – sorry – that bit where I said fixed? I was wrong.

    This is being fixed.
