Image uploaded to media library but not appearing

  I uploaded an image (less than 1GB) into the media library, but it does not appear as a thumbnail in the media library, nor does it show up when I add it to a post. In the preview screen, it is simply a blank page. In the edit screen, it says the file name and an icon of a broken image. When I view the attachment page and click on the broken image link, it opens the image correctly in a new tab, but that is the only time I successfully see the image.

  I usually have no issues with uploading images and even larger files. Is this a glitch I just have to wait? I have tried deleting and re-uploading it several times, as well as reducing the image size and image types, even though it was already below the limit to begin with.
