image widget configuration
-
I’m getting a message on the bottom of my home page that says please configure the image widget in your widget settings. What does this mean? I don’t know what it wants me to do exactly. I just added an image widget, and I want it to be displayed in the sidebar on my page and all my posts, but when I click on “page” under visibility, it shows the widget on my page but not my sidebar info like categories, rss feeds, etc. When I change visibility to “categories” it will show up in the sidebar if you click on a topic in categories, but it isn’t on my home page sidebar anymore. Is there a way to have it appear on both the home page and posts yet still retain my sidebar navigation info for visitors on my home page? What am I missing?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there – You have two image widgets. For the one in the footer, you need to expand the widget in the Second Footer Widget area here:
https://nomadshighway.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.phpThere, you’ll see the widget settings. You need to copy the URL for the uploaded image that you want to display in your footer, paste it into the ‘Image URL’ field in the widget and save, as described here:
Image WidgetFor the visibility of the one in the sidebar, if you want it to show everywhere, for visibility, just choose:
–select–That’s the first option in the dropdown menu; this means you’ve chosen nothing for visibility, so the widget will just show everywhere. You only need to use visibility if you want to restrict a widget to show only in certain places:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibilityDoes that all make sense? Let me know if you still need help!

Thanks so much for the info. When I click on the sidebar widget, it doesn’t show select as an option. Is that option only open for paid WordPress blogs or all of them?

Duh, just figured it out. Thanks so much again. I write for a lot of companies who use WordPress, so I cave access to their sites for content, but not the appearance of their pages. Just recently started my own WordPress blog, and I’m still learning the ropes for the site itself. The WordPress community has been great so far! Thanks again!!!!!!

Now that I’ve got my widget on my page sidebar, it doesn’t show my categories and archives on it anymore. How do I get the widget to show in conjunction with all the other info that used to appear there before I included the widget on the sidebar? Sorry to keep bugging you…

All widgets are installed and uninstalled here > Appearance > Widgets in either sidebar areas or footer areas.
Click to open each widget to configure it as described in each detailed widget description found on this page > http://en.support.wordpress.com/category/widgets-sidebars/
Note that widgets have visibility settings which determine exactly which pages they will be displayed on > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibility
Set that up inside each one and click “save” and “close”. -
Currently in your sidebar widget area, you have only your image widget and the Categories widget:
https://nomadshighway.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.phpIf you want to add additional widgets, just find them in the list of available widgets and drag them into your sidebar. :)

So why when I added a badge to my sidebar did all the other info that was previously on it disappear? What am I missing? I just wanted the badge in addition to the info that was already there.
-
You have to put it all back. That’s a “feature.” The first time you put a widget in any given sidebar, all the pre-existing widgets are put back into the Available space rather than the sidebar and you have to drag them back.

Thanks, I just did it manually right before seeing your response. I didn’t realize that that would happen when I placed the badge (widget) on there. Now that I’ve placed my first widget on there, it won’t do it from now on (remove that info), correct? Hope this makes sense.

Thanks to everybody and anybody that has helped walk me through this. You’re all great, and it’s a lot quicker than waiting for a response from an official site, such as when you’re experiencing problems with social media platforms.
