That’s not the URL of the image, that ‘s the URL of a webpage (with the image embedded in it). The URL of the image is this:
http://s3.amazonaws.com/photos.500px.net/1670995/f6f1d6b58210e56d9ec3ef97b25fd511fce8addc/5.jpg
But this gives me an access denied message. You need to edit a copy of the image in an image editing application, downsize it to the right width,* upload it to your blog via Media > Add New and use the URL you’ll get.

Hi again,
Another issue I hope you lovely people can help me with… Images on my blog are not appearing sharp. An example is on my blog at the moment, here: http://tanialeecrow.wordpress.com/
I have tried a number of things, including resizing my images to fit the blog theme (ive tried a number of sizes for this, including what the official theme states, 660px and also 850px and 640px), but none of them seem to work. I have tried resizing my images inside WP but that doesn’t solve it either and ive tried removing the sizes command in the HTML editor aswell. I can assure you the images are sharp and if you drag the image onto your desktop and open it it should appear pin sharp!
Please help,
Thanks

Image quality is lost when the cropper comes into play. That’s why the best approach is to optimize and pre-size all images to fit into the maximum displayed image width for your theme prior to uploading them into your blog.

The image in your latest post has been inserted at a width of 617px, and the b&w ones in the previous post at a width of 505px. But the originals are 1024px wide, with a resolution of 92dpi. As timethief sad, images loose quality when downsized by WP. You should make copies of your images, change their resolution to 72 (which is what all browsers display) and their width to a maximum of around 640px, and upload and insert those copies.

Hi there,
Thank you for a great site!
I am a new WordPress user so I’m not sure if I am looking in the right area of my dashboard, but I hope you can also assist me with images on Matala…
I am trying to activate the “random photos” gallery…I have checked the box under Theme Options, do I need to insert it on a page or post too? I would like it to display on the bottom of my pages.
Thanks so much!
