Over the last few posts I have made, the image I post with the text does not show when it goes out via e-mail to subscribers. I can’t see why that is happening. Help!

The photo is there on the blog, but when it goes out via email to subscribers, and to me, the photo is not with the post. This is about the 4th one in a row that I noticed it with. At first I thought it was because I had switched browsers, but then I went back to the other browser and tried it again, but same thing. Now funny enough today I posted on my other blog and the photos went out via email with that post. So I don’t know if I have inadvertently done something, but if so I’m not seeing it when I check things in the settings.

Thank you for the details.
I noticed that the post does not have a featured image. Try adding one to the next post, this way you’ll make sure it will be send to your subscribers.

Okay I did that even though I have not ever done that before, but I still didn’t get the photo when it came to my email. I didn’t do that for my other blog either and when I posted that with 3 photos, those photos were received in the email. So I don’t know what the issue is, I have changed the settings on this blog so that only an excerpt goes out with a link to read on the blog where the photo is. That’s the only way I know to make sure the photos get seen. The photos are only photos of the card or cards I’m reading for each post but why all of a sudden they stopped being included in the email of the post I don’t know.

Okay so I think I have found the problem, when I am posting a new card reading, on the right hand side there are 2 headings: Post, and Block. Under Post if I go to Post Format, it says “Standard”, if I open the box I can choose Image, and so I just tried that and when the post arrived in my e-mail the photo of the card was now there, but when I go back to add a new post that setting is back to Standard again so I will have to change it to Image before I post it. I never had to do that before and I have been using the new format on the site for a little while now. Can that be changed to save it to Image or am I going to have to change it myself every time I write a post?

Thanks for clarifying. I noticed your theme is an older one, you have been using it for some time, yes? The toggle you see is for something called “post formats” which is an option we used on WordPress.com themes at that time but don’t use on newer themes, which now use blocks to create create the format instead of a “post format” setting as we used to use.
In our previous editor this setting (Image post format) is saved from session to session, but in our newer block editor that setting info is not saved, so in this case you will need to remember to select that format when posting on this blog.

Thanks Jerry, and yes I have been using that theme for some time so I will look at changing it. I have been using the new block format though as I was given it a month or so ago to try, my other blog just started using it. But again even though I have been using the new block format, this issue with the photos going out in e-mail only started about a week ago. Are you saying that with this new block format, even if I change to a newer theme, I will have to select that format every time?

Hi there,
You can set a default post format under My Site ->Manage ->Settings ->Writing, so even with the block editor you shouldn’t need to set that manually every time.
But again even though I have been using the new block format, this issue with the photos going out in e-mail only started about a week ago.
I notice your images are the first thing in your posts. There was a bug last week where posts with the image block appearing first didn’t show the image in email notifications, but that appears to have been fixed right before the weekend.
Can you try publishing a new post again, and see if this still happens? If it does, for the next post try putting a line of text before the image and see if that helps.
Let me know the results – if it still won’t show the image with image-first, it means the bug likely isn’t completely fixed yet.

Thank you kokkieh, I just published a new post and the image is there in my e-mail with the post without me doing anything, and I didn’t even update my theme! So I would say the issue is fixed. Thank you again for letting me know it was a bug.
