    TWO QUESTIONS:

1: Will my photos load *faster* if I pay for the upgrade?
2: Is there a way to link to a carousel without having the website loading ‘behind’ http://simonmcandrew.com/2014/03/25/#jp-carousel-5379

    Hi Simon,

1: Will my photos load *faster* if I pay for the upgrade?

The Upgrade will not make your site load faster.

The reason your site loads so slowly is you have it set to display up to 50 image-heavy posts on the front page.

To cut down on loading time, my suggestion is to reduce the amount of posts you display on your home page.

You can do this by clicking Settings → Reading, and changing “Blog pages show at most” quantity. Most people show 4-7 posts on the front page. As a general rule of thumb, blog visitors don’t want to scroll too far down any single page.

Because images are so prevalent on your blog, you’ll also want to optimize them for internet viewing. This will cut down on file size, which will increase the speed of load time, without lowering the visual quality of your photos.

When I look at your carousel, I see your images on a black background, with a ‘hint’ of the previous/following images on either side of the page. Are you seeing your website behind your images? Please send me a screenshot, so I can better understand the issue. You can simply upload the screenshot to your Media Library, like any other image, and I’ll be able to access it from there. Just let me know when I can take a look. It’ll help me to see exactly what you see.

The page at the following link has some helpful tips for taking screenshots:

Thanks very much. I’m looking forward to hearing from you! All the best.
