Images appear smaller than uploaded
-
When I upload an image of say 800 x 500 pixels, it has the right size in the editing field, but after I hit “publish” the image shows up ridiculously small.
Why is that? This problem began occurring yesterday.
Here is the link to the blog post, showing the small image, uploaded as 800 x 574

Hi Mabel,
When you uploaded (and when it was in preview) the image looks quite large, but I noticed that the size which you selected to have it displayed at was “Medium” which in this case is only 300×224 pixels, which is about the size that this image is displaying at.
You can change the display size by editing your post and then clicking on the image. You’ll see an icon for a pencil in the upper left hand corner of the image. Click on that and then change the drop-down menu for size under Display Settings to whatever you’d like (Original Size is an option). Click Update and then Update your post as well, and it should be much larger!
Let me know if you have any questions!

Hello amightywp,
Thanks for your swift response, much appreciated.
I followed your directions and it worked just fine.
Actually I cannot recall I ever changed that setting, in fact I never even clicked on the editing “pencil” icon on the photo (though I did notice that a while ago the X and editing pencil had replaced the former stop sign when you clicked on a photo.
I always used to manually set the size of image display in the HTML editor, adapting the numbers for the pixels in the code for the photo. But now that did not work any longer, because evidently the setting under the edit pencil overrides those manual adaptations.Feeling a bit silly now, all it took was a click on a pencil, d’oh!
Cheers and thanks again!

Not a problem! That setting also exists when you first insert the image and it can easily default to Medium. You may want to check the next time you insert an image. It’s off to the right and is easily missed!
