When you are about to insert an image you have uploaded, the right column includes alignment, link and size options (thumbnail, medium, large, full size): you select the option you prefer.
Full size means original size, if the original is narrower than the width of the post column, or scaled down to the width of the post column, if the original is wider. The defaults for the other three options are set by you in Settings > Media, in accordance with the theme you’re using. The width of the post column in Clean Home is 590px, so the default widths for the medium and large options should be set to around 300 and 450-500, respectively.By the way, the originals in the two posts you linked to are 2560px wide: uploading such large images is a waste of storage space. Before I tell you more about this: the images on the posts link to the originals when clicked; is this intentional or not?

Thanks, I have no idea how I missed that!
I know that the images on the post link to the originals – is that a bad thing? I really (obviously) don’t know much when it comes to uploading pictures! :-/

You’re welcome.
Linking to the originals is not bad (or good): it’s a matter of preference. I asked because many users aren’t aware of the options, and advice on proper image sizing depends on whether you want linking images or not.
