Images appearing smaller, Sidebar not appearing

  I have researched the forums and the solutions given are not helping me. I have two problems:

  1) When I upload images and insert them into a post, they appear much smaller. I have not changed any of the properties when importing them into the media library, and I have no new properties added to them when inserting them.

  2) My sidebar does not show up when I enter content into any of my pages. If I keep them blank, or start over, the RSS feed and calendar appear.
