Images are not displayed in this email and must be viewed on the website.

I just wrote a new post on my blog and the email version that is sent out to my subscribers has ugly looking URLs in place of the pictures (previously if the pictures didn’t load at least you got a box and the caption) and the end of the post has the phrase “Images are not displayed in this email and must be viewed on the website.”

This is new – what’s causing this and how do I get the pictures to appear in the emailed post, or alternatively, how do I least get the email to look a little less ugly. No one wants to see the URLs of the images in place of the images. Why not just use the captions as the placeholder instead of the URL?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hey there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

“Images are not displayed in this email and must be viewed on the website.

This is happening because the site is set to private, and so images wouldn’t be public to be distributed.

To show the image, the sit would need to be public.

I hope this helps so far!

But why does it no longer show the box and caption. Why does it now just put the URL?

As @aleone89 said in his answer: “This is happening because the site is set to private, and so images wouldn’t be public to be distributed. To show the image, the sit would need to be public.”

I understand the answer about the private images, but this has always been the case. What used to happen is that you got a box with the caption inside it. Why does it not do that anymore? That would be preferable to the ugly URL inline in the text. How do I go back to the previous behaviour?
