images different

    Added a new page.
Previously you click on an image and an arrow will scroll to the next.
    That’s what I want, so it’s consistent.
The one I just added just brings up the picture. No simple way to get to the next.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

It sounds like what you want is a gallery. The Gallery Carousel displays exactly as you describe. Here is more information on the Gallery:

Is this what you’re looking for, or were you thinking of something else?

I went to the Settings-> Media and Display image in carousel was already checked in addition to Show photo metadata. I saved it anyway and it made no difference.
You click on the first picture and it comes up with no carousel. You can only go back and pick another.

  • Oh I think I understand now.

In order to get the Gallery Carousel, you have to add the images to a gallery first. Separate images in the post won’t act as if they are in a carousel. Does that make sense?

i’ll try that. I guess I have to delete that page and reload the images into a gallery. My internet has been down for two days.

I got the pictures into a gallery. For some reason it puts two images side by side. The gallery works fine; scrolls like it should. But how come it puts duplicate images side by side?

  • Hmm, do you have a featured image set that is the same as a gallery image? I’m really not sure what could be at play here. Do you have a link you could provide?

    Cheers!

I don’t know the difference between a featured and gallery image, so probably not.
I see now that all my pages are in two columns. They used to be in one column. I have not changed anything, so something changed in WordPress.
Used to just click on the first (top) picture and the gallery would start.

  • Can you link to a specific post where you’re seeing the problem?

    Cheers!

This shows it. Pictures used to be in a single file down the page. Now they are side by side.

  • Hi there,

You were really close! You just had to uncheck the “display my galleries in a cool mosaic” box in Settings > Media. I’ve unchecked this for you, so you can see the effect immediately on your gallery.

    I hope this helps!

  • Unknown's avatar

That did it. Now I can add my latest and try that. Thanks.

Well, I tried to install a new cartoon. I can arrange them easily by title. They first come out in the wrong order. I can’t arrange them correctly because the print is too small to read. I can’t find any option to arrange by order (like it used to be). I’ll try again now that I have a little more familiarity with this.

Also, they did not come out in a single file. That is different but that is acceptable to me.

  • If you open the gallery to edit it, you can re-arrange the image tiles by dragging-and-dropping them into the order you would like to see the images in.

You can change the number of columns in that same edit gallery screen.

    I hope that helps!

the text in the gallery is too small to read. That’s what I need to figure out the correct order.

  • Hi again,

Ah I see. Ok! No problem! So you’re seeing these as pretty small because Gallery images are set to thumbnail size until they’re viewed in the Carousel.

You can adjust this size in Dashboard > Settings > Media: Thumbnail Size. 300 x 300 should be sufficient. Please note: this will affect ALL thumbnails you may have.

    Hope that helps!
