Images disappeared
-
Hi,
I have a bit of a problem! Went through some old posts and discovered that images in posts before june 2011 are gone! There is only a big, red X, where the picture should be. Anyone who has had the same problem or can tell me what to to about this?
Thanks! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s because you hadn’t uploaded those images to your blog, you had used the URLs of images hosted here:
http://victoriadays.blogg.se
Does this site still exist? -
No, that is my old blogg and it is deleted. I imported all the posts to wordpress. But, some of the pictures are still there, because I started to write in wordpress 24 of july. The posts before that are from my previous blog and there are some posts where I still can see the pictures. Isn’t that strange?

“there are some posts where I still can see the pictures”.
We can’t search 33 months of posts for you: link to examples please. -
There are no images on that page: only a few videos (and, depending on the browser, Xs or ?s in place of the images). If you’re seeing images, you’re looking at a cached version of the page.

Hi!
I am having the same problem. See these posts: http://vanessamorrow.com/2011/03/31/under-construction/
http://vanessamorrow.com/2011/04/18/an-update/
http://vanessamorrow.com/2011/01/21/seaside/
There are a lot more than just those.I am hosted with wordpress.com but have a redirected address so that I have my own url. All of the images were upload to the wordpress site. Please help.
Thanks!

The URLs of those images give a 404 (not found) response; this means you’ve probably deleted the images from your media library.
On another issue: the images you’ve been uploading are huge (the one I checked is width 3130px, size 5.3MB). There’s no point uploading 3130px wide images when the theme you’re using displays them at 545px maximum: you’re simply wasting your storage space and increasing the loading time of your pages, plus the theme may break in lousy browsers (= Explorer). You should make copies of your images, downsize them in an image editing application to the right width, and upload and insert those copies. This will give you better quality as well, because images downsized by WP lose some color and sharpness – see here:
