Images do not link to full sizes

  It used to be that when I uploaded and inserted images into WordPress, a smaller size would show up in the blog post, and then you could click on it and it would open the image in full size. Lately, even though the full sized image shows up in my images directory, there is no way to open that image from the blog post. Since I use WP to show my illustration work, I really need viewers to be able to open the full sized picture. Help! How can I get it to work again? Older posts are fine; it’s the newer ones that aren’t linking.

  Hi Rose
  When you add the images into the blog, there are several options given when you click on the add media. However the open in separate window option does not come along until you have added the image already. The instructions on how to do that (along with several other goodies) may be found in this help section:

  About halfway down is what you are looking for, but everything before that is a nice little review.

  Thanks, Dave. I found the admin edit page you suggested, and can easily edit text, but nowhere on the page is there anything at all about Advanced Options. The only permalink I see on the admin edit page is a link to the post itself–not the original, full-sized image. Where am I going wrong?

  Hi Rose
  Once the post is there and you are in the admin edit page click on the image, and a little box will pop up at the top. Select the pencil icon and an Image Details page will open.

  You can then resize your image to thumbnail size if you want, and you can select what you want the image to link to. You want to Link To Media File and use the default URL given. That is supposed to open the full size image in a new window.

  This isn’t quite intuitive, and it looks like the admin-edit was changed lately but the help page hasn’t yet caught up.
