  I’m really surprised “Subscribe by email’ works on private blogs. Seems like a bad idea to me.

  Yes the emails can be forwarded around to just about anyone and that blows the whole “setting the blog to private” thing.

  You can do anything with a private blog if you have access, the issue of trust doesn’t really change with email.

  It just enables the incompetent and lazy, but there are lots of incompetent, lazy people. Isn’t this why RSS feeds are (or were) disabled on private blogs?
