Images don't show up centred on the website

    Hi,
I’ve been having this problem for the last few days, although I didn’t make any changes recently, so I’m not sure why it is happening: Images will not show up centred on my pages and blog entries. Instead, they are strangely aligned to the left when you visit the website, even though in editing mode everything is fine and they are centred (and the html is fine). Any ideas why this is happening and how I can sort it out? Thanks

  • Hi there!

Unfortunately, this is a known bug. The center-alignment does not work correctly on this theme when using the Classic editor.

It does, however, work as expected on the new Block Editor so you can give that a try, as a workaround. The new Block Editor, also gives you way more control over the design of your posts and pages, have a look:

Thanks for the tip, staff-mckluskey. I don’t understand why it stopped working, it used to be fine until a few days ago

  • It’s possible a recent update to the theme caused this. The company who makes this theme will need to fix it, though, as it’s not one we make ourselves. There’s already a bug report open for this, and we’ll let you know if we any more information on that.

Hi, @kokkieh. Thanks. Btw, I switched to the new Block Editor and now I am having problems with paragraphs not showing up properly when I try to post or edit something. I always have to switch to html mode and add <br> for line spaces to actually show up once posted. Any idea about this too? Thanks

also, @kokkieh, regarding my previous issue, do you know what is the best way to contact the theme creators directly?

  • On the new block editor, for each paragraph break, just start a new paragraph block.

You can reach support for that theme at https://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/viva-themes/soho/

Hi staff-blorbo, thanks for the link. I have tried separate paragraph blocks, but when I preview/post, the paragraphs are just merged together for some reason (even though in editing mode they appear separately). The only way in which they show up as separate once posted or previewed is if I add the <br> between paragraphs. I know I am not the only one experiencing this particular issue, as I’ve seen someone else having the same problem, which is partly why I was reluctant to switch to block editor.

Thanks for the replies and link, I really appreciate your help

Can you please share a posts where this is happening so I can have a closer look?

@fstat Check my poetry page https://dianamarin.com/poetry/ for instance. The only reason there is a space showing up before ‘Wayward girl’ is because I inserted a <br> there. The <p> doesn’t work. Check this: link

So what you want here is a bigger space than a normal line break, like what’s appearing, for example, before the titles of your other poems, correct? To do that, use a heading block for your poem titles, rather than a paragraph block. Headings automatically have extra spacing above them to separate them from preceding content.

And on a related note, have you considered using the verse block for your poems, rather than the paragraph block? The verse block is specifically designed for poetry, and preserves all spaces and line breaks you add without any need to resort to manually adding single-line breaks vs paragraph breaks.

@kokkieh, I’m sorry, I don’t understand: For me, only the line break adds space between them. The paragraph code doesn’t work. So the others poems are merged. There is only a space between Wayward and what is before that. I’d like to be able to have space between paragraphs (not only on that page, but whenever I write a new post) without having to go into html and add a line break.

I did try heading block too, and it also doesn’t add any space.

Check out the screenshots, I’m confused about this question: “what you want here is a bigger space than a normal line break, like what’s appearing, for example, before the titles of your other poems, correct?”. There is no space appearing before the other titles.

  • There is no space appearing before the other titles.

There is a space there, visible in your screen shot. The space between “November” and the last line of the poem above it is bigger than the space between two lines inside the poem. That’s the size of paragraph breaks in this theme.

You can see the same size paragraph breaks on the theme demo site, for example, https://sohodemo.wordpress.com/2015/05/05/proin-condimentum-tellus/

On your poetry page it looks like everything is even closer together because you’re dealing with such short lines of text, but the breaks there are exactly the same size as on that post from the demo site. What you’re seeing is essentially an optical illusion caused by how the content on the poetry page is laid out.

If you use heading and verse blocks for your poetry instead, things will be better spaced out on that page. And on posts/pages where you write regular paragraphs that span the full width of the content area the breaks won’t appear so small.

If you’d still like the space between paragraphs to be bigger in general, the only way to do that is to change the default padding for paragraphs on the site, and that can only be done using custom CSS on our premium plan or higher.

    I understand, thank you!
