images enlarging
-
My newest post (weave of the week #10) shows images of the front and back sides of the same fabric. I wanted the images to look uniform so I cropped the photos to be approximately the same size. They look fine on the post but when the images are clicked on, the “wrong” side photo enlarges a lot more than the “right” side photo. I’m curious about why that’s happening so I thought I’d ask. (Using FF 3.0) TIA

When you click the images it goes to the original file that you’ve uploaded, so I’m assuming that this file copy-of-french_tweed_face.jpg is simply a lot smaller than the other one?

As carocat says, clicking leads to the originals, and your originals are not at all the same size (the one is 522x284px and the other 1088x576px). You see, what matters for the computer is not the size in cms or inches (both your images are 18.42cm wide) but the size in PIXELS. The result you got is because the second image is at double the resolution: you should make a copy of it and change its resolution from 150 to 72.

Duh. You’re both right. I thought that I had made both resolutions 72 ppi — and thought that I doublechecked before posting — but I obviously didn’t. Thanks.
