Images from Blogger

  I recently managed to import my blog into WordPress, complete with comments, but somewhere I read that images do not import and they would have to be uploaded again to WordPress. However, I find that all my posts do have the images showing, although they are obvously not showing in the appropriate photo section in Dashboard.

  Do I need to do anything else, or should everything work as it is?

  So long as you don’t delete your blogger account, things should work ok.

  OK, thanks for that.

  So, assuming I do, at some point, delete the blogger account and blog, I presume I will then have to upload the photos to WordPress, then re-insert the photos into the appropriate posts? Or is there a better way?

  If you delete your Blogger account then you can no longer hotlink to the images. That means you will have to upload each one into the wordpress.com servers.

  Thanks for the quick response.

  I had seen that link, and that was why I was confused when my photos appeared after importing the blog, as they were obviously linking when I thought they wouldn’t be. I expected, by reading that FAQ, to have to do the photo uploading straight away, but as lundiep says, it should be OK as long as I don’t delete my blogger blog. What I would like to know is, if I delete the old blog, how would I get them to appear in the new blog? Go back to every post containing a photo and re-insert it in the text, or some other way? Will it find the photo automatically once they’re uploaded into Dashboard?

  (1) There is no assurance that Blogger may not do something at their end that puts anend to hotlinking to images on their servers. If you delete your blog there and still hotlink back to those images then you are helping yourself to Blogger’s bandwidth.

  (2) There is no such thing as a mass or bulk image upload. If you delete the Blogger blog or if something happens that puts an end to hotlinking at their end then, in order for the image to be hosted on the wordpress.com servers and appear on your wordpress.com blog, you will have to upload each image into each post on your wordpress.com blog.
