Images go all wonky in new editor
-
I made the plunge and switched to the new block editor, where everything seems to be obvious. I think I might like it.
However, I was recently editing my image-heavy page and found two things:
1) New images added to a gallery cannot be arranged side-by-side in different sizes. If someone looks at the page, these are the yellow cards.
2) Images already in the page are now doubled within one block. How can I get rid of one of them?My page is: https://nbstearmans.com/canadian-stearmans/
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi –
Thanks for getting in touch about your experience with the new editor. We appreciate your time and feedback.
It sounds like #1 might be related to this existing report: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/11940
– which block type did you use to create that gallery?
– did you use the gallery shortcode? We are tracking several other reports of duplicated image here:
https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/11136– what operating system are you using
– which browser type and version numberAs you can see, we are still smoothing out some bumps with the new editor.

Hi. The galleries are OK, I fixed that problem.
The doubled images are within one block, >20 blocks per page, thus cannot delete one except if I go into code, then it looks daunting.
MacOS Mojave 10.14.01
Firefox Quantum 63.0.1 (64 bit)
Thanks. Sorry, I did not see your reply email, even tho’ I checked the box.

Liz,
I duplicated the doubling process on a page with 4 images:PROCESS
1) clicked edit at bottom. The editing portion is only 14 cm wide, i.e., 1/3 of the available white space. Makes it difficult to arrange images. Why so small?2) On editor bar at top of text, clicked the 3 dots, then convert to blocks.
The first image was not doubled, but the other 3 were, and in 2 sizes. Maybe the problem is in the original image attributes. I inserted all images the regular way, by using the media box.
-
I just noticed something. The two blue sizing dots appear only on the upper of the two images.
Also, my theme is colinear.

@ christbmavengers I’ve tried this a several times with multiple posts — I can’t seem to duplicate the issue you’re seeing.
Maybe the problem is in the original image attributes. I inserted all images the regular way, by using the media box.
Any more thoughts on which specific attributes?

The only difference I can see is that image 1 had a named colour space: sRGB IEC61966-2.1, but the other three did not, i.e., the category “Colour Space was blank. Does this help?
-
Hi there,
I think I’m confused. Where did you find the color space for those images and what that has to do with their arrangement in the editor?
-
In the original images as viewed in ON1 2019.
Maybe just tell me how to delete them. Here is code for the first pair, plus some text:
<!– wp:paragraph –>
<p>The FPL files reveals images of three Stearman crashes in addition to the ones in 1952 and 1953. Details of owner, registration, pilot, injuries, location and year are sketchy, so these are presented together here.</p>
<!– /wp:paragraph –><!– wp:image {“id”:166,”align”:”none”} –>
<figure class=”wp-block-image alignnone”>
<figcaption>
Wreckage of Stearman #52. [FPL Files]
<!– /wp:image –> -
To delete an image select the block that contains it, click on the three dots and select “Remove Block”. Here’s a screenshot to make things easier:
-
That unfortunately removes both images, as they are paired within the block. I will try to do it in html codes.
-
I’ve discovered the answer to the doubling of images, and it’s glaringly obvious! Just click on the unwanted image so that the four placeholders appear, then right click and select delete. Duh.
