Images hosted on i0.wp.com
-
Hello,
I believe there is an access issue with the server i0.wp.com, which generates and caches the optimized thumbnails.Specific case | Example image:
https://i0.wp.com/live.staticflickr.com/65535/54438882514_e3cb714f34_h.jpg?resize=980%2C980&ssl=1From Uruguay, the image is not displayed:

When trying to open the image URL directly from
i0.wp.com, the following error appears:
“We cannot complete this request, remote data could not be fetched.”When connected to a VPN in Spain, the image is visible:

This does not seem to be an issue limited to my country, as I have tested multiple VPN servers in several European, Asian, and even North American countries, and the image remains inaccessible.
Additional info:
CURL:
In the image that fails to load, I receive a 404 error when not using a VPN.
The second command refers to an image that is accessible without issues — same server (i0.wp.com).

Hi there!
I tried accessing the source image directly at https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54438882514_e3cb714f34_h.jpg, but it doesn’t seem to be loading anything for me. It shows a 404 error, indicating the source image has been removed.
Since this is hotlinked from Flickr, can you double-check that the same discrepancies happen on this direct link as well?
Just to clarify, images from our CDN (like i0.wp.com) will be removed if they are no longer present at the source site. When they are removed, there’s a period during which the image may still be served from the cache in some locations for a while before being removed. That would explain why the i0.wp.com link worked in some networks but not in others.
I checked the link
https://i0.wp.com/live.staticflickr.com/65535/54438882514_e3cb714f34_h.jpg?resize=980%2C980&ssl=1and can confirm that this doesn’t exist anymore (as a result of the source filehttps://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54438882514_e3cb714f34_h.jpgreturning 404). If you still saw the image load, it was likely being served from the cache.I’d suggest confirming if the source image is still accessible because, for me, it isn’t. Can you check on your end, too?

Hi!
Thanks for the quick response. My mistake—after writing, I replaced the image to force the cache to update. The correct URL is:
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54438882514_b48d49157d_k.jpgI understand that the image served from the WP server should be:
https://i0.wp.com/live.staticflickr.com/65535/54438882514_b48d49157d_k.jpg
That one returns an error. -
No worries, and thanks for the correct links! I tried this:
https://i0.wp.com/live.staticflickr.com/65535/54438882514_b48d49157d_k.jpg?resize=980%2C980&ssl=1
And it’s loading the image for me:

Do you get the same error when trying to visit this link (Or Curl it) from Uruguay?

But if I access via USA VPN…

Argentina VPN:

I tried some additional VPN servers… it seems that it’s not visible from those in Latin America.

Hi Gabriel!
I noticed that you entered pure HTML code in the Gutenberg code editor:

Could you please exit the Code Editor, edit the post, and place the HTML code in a Custom HTML block instead? Then, please save the changes and check the image again.
Once you’ve done this, please let us know.
-
Hello staff-webwizard, done.
Whether using code or blocks, the result is the same. The image displays correctly within the post, but it does not appear in the index. This happens because it doesn’t use the same image, but rather an optimized version served from i0.wp.com.
All the other posts were written using the same structure. I started noticing the issue with this latest one. I will create an additional post using the image block. -

Dear all, the issue has been resolved. For some reason, which I still can’t fully explain, the image associated with that specific post was not being displayed correctly. Even related images (whose preview points to the i0 server) were not showing up.
I’ve just created a new post and deleted the original cat post, replacing it with a new one (I also replaced the original images that pointed to Flickr).
Thank you very much!
