Images I upload now are not visible within my media directory ‘uploads’

Who do I contact to get support. the link and url says contact, but It’s obviously for the forums (bad usability folks.) I need to set file permissions for the uploads directory
and all the subdirectories inside it to 744. as my account is a ‘free’ account – I can’t do this myself. This is a well known fix when WP is updated and file permissions change.
    Please advise – Thanks, Tom

    Hi There,

Could you please confirm the website URL for which you want to change the file permission?

  • Hi Tom,

Can you please confirm the site URL, and explain in more detail what exactly is going wrong?

There is no way to manually set file permissions for sites hosted on WordPress.com, and media files on WordPress.com sites aren’t stored in an uploads directory the way they are on self-hosted WordPress installs. Additionally your site, http://thomasburnsinfo.wordpress.com/, is on our free plan, which means it’s not possible for you to directly access media files on the server at all, as we only offer SFTP access on our Business and eCommerce plans.

If you’re working on a stand-alone WordPress installation at another hosting provider, you’ll need to use that host’s admin panel to change file permissions on your site. Support for that version of WordPress is provided by the WordPress.org community over at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
