    Can you tell me why even a small image isn’t visible on my latest post at http://kberkeblog.wordpress.com?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Where are the missing images hosted ie. on which servers are these images?

    1. If you uploaded images from your computer into your blog then they will be found in your Media Library as they will be hosted on WordPress.com servers. http://en.support.wordpress.com/media/
    But if you uploaded images from your computer onto WordPress.com servers and cannot locate them in the blog’s Media Library because you deleted them we cannot help you. They are gone and you will have to upload them again.

    2. If the missing images are ones you have linked to on some other server somewhere else online that does not allow hotlinking to images the images will not be displayed.

    If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first. If you are, please do these:

    (1) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
    Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

    (2) Make sure that you have third-party cookies and JavaScript enabled http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

    (3) Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

    Thanks for the reply. I can’t say that adjustments allowed the image to appear. Strange that I would suddenly have this problem. Appreciate the effort though.

    These things are bound to happen when you copypaste from other sources into the Visual editor. The image cannot show because the sourcecode has three pages of junk instead of the image URL. Edit the post, switch the editor to Text (=code), delete all the table code, then insert the image the normal way: copy it to your computer and insert it via the Add Media button of the post.

    When you copypaste, paste into the Text editor, so that only the content and no wrong code will be inserted.

    By the way, why on earth are you using table coding for a single image and a single paragraph? Tables are used for rows and columns of data.

    Thanks for this helpful response. To respond to two questions: I don’t know where to obtain an image of a book’s jacket, if not from Google images of jackets. That’s always worked before, but I guess I used a particularly polluted image in this instance. Must say though, that I tried several images of the book’s jacket, and had the same problem in WordPress.

    As to the use of tables: I used tables to space the photo where I want it in the blog. I’d really prefer not to use tables, so you’ve inspired me to look into spacing around images other than in tables.

    a) How exactly did you try to insert the image? Can you give me the URL of the page where you found the image?

    b) One of the reasons you shouldn’t use table coding is that the theme you’re using is responsive. Drag the browser window to make it narrower, to see what a visitor with a lower resolution screen or mobile device will see. To make the text wrap around, you simply set the image alignment to left.

    That’s the junk I was talking about…
    First, this works in the address bar of your browser, but it cannot work in the post editor by itself. And it’s not a regular URL anyway: regular URLs start with http, and image URLs end with the filetype extension (.jpg, .png etc).
    Second, using images stored elsewhere isn’t good practice anyway: your blog takes longer to load, and if the original gets removed or relocated it will disappear from your post.
    So forget the monster you tried to use please, and do things the normal way. Visit a page like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Stalin-Breaker-Nations-Robert-Conquest/dp/0140169539
    copy the image to your computer, rename it into something more meaningful, then edit the post, click the Add Media button, click Upload Files, upload the image and insert it, selecting Alignment > Left.

    Your advice has certain turned out well–as you see, the image is now up there, nice as you please. And no more table.
