Images in gallery mode

Hello – when I put two images in gallery format they appear side by side on a full screen computer but on a tablet or smartphone the images appear one under the other and to a much smaller size. Is there anyway of making them appear side by side on these devices as on a computer screen?

  • Hello there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

Are you able to confirm the URL of the website that you need assistance with please?

  • Hi there,

What you’re seeing is intentional. All our themes, and any multi-column feature like an image gallery, is designed to switch to a single-column layout on narrow mobile phone screens, rather than trying to squash everything in next to each other. This is part of mobile-responsive web design, and most modern, well-made websites behave this way.

On some mobile browsers you can force the desktop version to load, but that decision is up to each individual visitor to your site, as it’s a setting they need to select in their specific browser. It’s not something you can force from your site’s end.

It’s also possible to override the theme’s mobile responsiveness using custom CSS code on our Premium Plan to, essentially, cancel out the existing CSS that makes the site responsive in the first place, but we’re not able to help with the code for this type of change.
