images in post and sidebar widget appearing/disappearing

I’m using Press row. My blog is here: http://imadethis.wordpress.com/

I’ve looked through several, but not all, questions trying to find the answer to no avail. I am NOT a very clever technical person. I just like to type and go. I’ve managed to figure out how to add badges (a big deal for me). However, one badge continually appears and reappears. I have to re-do it totally and it seems to last for that day. Then it’s gone the next day?

And I’ve added images within my post. One post had no problems. I tried it again (the last post) and none of my pictures load. I’ve done exactly the same thing. What am I doing wrong?

For both problems, do I need to do something differently or is it a WP glitch?

    Thanks for your help

Might help us help you if you gave specifics of what you’re having issues with. I see your images fine but without knowing which ones you’re having problems with, there’s little we can help with.

And I thought I was actually being thorough! Don’t you see where there are x’s instead of images in the places I’d referenced? (Sidebar widget and within the last blog)
I’m not sure what more I can give you. What do you need and I’ll try better to provide it.

Thanks, by the way, for such a speedy reply.

Red x’s are IE specific. You don’t get them in other browsers. (Netscape 7.1 here) I had someone pull it up for me on their laptop though.

You have broken picture links in this post. (Please note that I gave a link to the post in question. That’s what you should be doing. Who knows if you were to post between your and my replies. Also you’re making folks guess at what you’re looking at and that’s not cool.)

If you look at the URL for the picture, it looks like something like this:

    http://imadethis.wordpress.com/TINYMCE_UNIQUEURL();

I would suggest turning of the Rich Text editor. While somethign appears to be up with the editor, I would and have suggested that for everybody anyway since it’s TinyMCE, not that great anyway and you have more control over your HTML with the normal editor. You can do this at Dashboard -> Users -> Your Profile -> Near the top of the page.

As to the picture in the sidebar, this is the URL:

    http://us.f6.yahoofs.com/blog/44aed1fbz6e2fdae3/73/__hr_/5556.jpg?mgYAOMFB2H0mcMo0

I get a ‘Can’t find server’ error on that one so I’m going to guess that either the server is down or the URL is incorrect. Please note that hotlinking of images found on other servers is not considered cool as some folks feel that that is stealing their bandwidth. I’d just go ahead and upload it.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks for explaining the rules of play. I should have thought of the logistics of the posting bit. I’m going to try and figure all this out. As far as the stealing bandwidth, I’m not. I’ve read a bit about this and am aware enough not to do it. So I downloaded the image from a website to my computer, uploaded it to a yahoo blog and used that URL for the sidebar address. And it still shows and doesn’t show randomly. The picture still exists and is the same URL. Any ideas?
    Thanks again

I’ve not used them (They ignore spammer complaints) but I don’t think Yahoo allows hotlinking. That and I can’t even get the image to come up seperately in a browser window either.

Doesn’t work either for me. Gives me a 403 error and says I don’t have permission to get this file.

Good Morning. I’ve turned off Rich Text. I’m going to host the pics in Flickr rather than on yahoo. I’m hoping that may solve the problem?
The missing badge is this photo, by the way. It’s stitchy McYarnpants. I don’t know how to link directly to the picture, sorry.

Thanks again for all the help.
