Images in post are different from home page image
-
I’d like to have a single “summary” image appear on my home page for each post, but when you click it and go into the post, you see different images (and not the summary one that is on the home page). The theme I am using is Elemin.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Michelle – I see you have your “summary” image at the top of each front page post’s excerpt, and it’s also shown at the top of each individual post’s page.
If readers click the ‘read more’ link, though, they’ll be delivered ‘after the jump’ so they have to scroll up a bit to see the part that has already appeared on the front page.
Does this answer your question? If not, can you please provide a bit more detail about what you’d like to change?

Hi Eurello,
It’s good that when they click on the “summary” image, it takes them to the ‘after the jump’ point of the individual post, however at that point, I would like to get rid of that summary image that appeared on the homepage. Is that possible?
I like having the summary images on the homepage, but within post, I am going to show individual images and I no longer want to see the summary. I hope that helps clarify…
Thank you!

Hi Michelle – ah, I see. In that case, I’m afraid not. There are some themes that allow you to set a featured image to be shown on the front page, and then that image does not appear on the posts page, but Elemin isn’t one. With Elemin, if you set a featured image, it will appear as a thumbnail on the home page, but also on the posts page.
If you wanted to set all of your first images as featured images, you could then use the following CSS so that they did not appear on your posts page:
body.single .post-thumbnail { display: none; }However, that would make your image appear as a thumbnail on the homepage, which I don’t think you would want.

I also wanted to make my header banner clickable and I found the following conversation:
but when I went to Appearance > Customize > CSS and copy and paste that code it, it doesn’t work for me. Any insight on that issue?
Thank you again!

Hi Michelle – it wasn’t working for you because the menu tab ID on that user’s blog was “7619.” On your blog, it would be different. You were using the default menu, however, which doesn’t assign an ID to your Home tab, so I recreated your menu using the Custom Menu feature, and using a Custom Link for your Home tab:
https://catchingcouture.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.phpThat gave your Home tab an ID that I could then use in the CSS to hide it behind your banner. :)
How does that look for you now?

Eurello, I wrote support yesterday and still haven’t heard back… Do you think you could help me with this? I would just like to change the link that my gravitar/display name links to. My primary blog is catchingcouture.com (where I’d like it to link), but it still links to an old one (superlativesoul.wordpress.com > babasaysitsart.com) even thought I’ve changed it in my User/Personal Settings.
I’d really appreciate your help! Thank you!

Hi Michelle – I note that your username is linking to the correct site here in the forums. Note that the change isn’t retroactive, so it will only apply to comments you leave after changing the setting. Does your username link to the correct site when you leave a comment now? :)
