Images in post problem

  Hiya, I´m using a wp theme that has on the index page a brief synopsis of the actual post and then a read more click button. by default in the theme there was a default small thumbnail image that appears in each of this synopsis post. I´m using the blog to promote products and have three posts and obviously don´t want the same pic for each. I”ve found part of the code and have deleted the request for the thumbnail but a default “text2 appears now instead. Each post has a pic at the top but the synopsis doesn´t pick that up. Is there some way that I can get it to either use the pic in the actual post or to make it post a relevant pic in each post?
  I´m not into php that much but can generally play about with the themes to get what i want.
