Images in Posts – Open Link in a New Window/Tab no longer working

I am using Twenty Ten Theme, and have been using it for about 4 years. In the last two months, the “Advanced” feature for images called “Open link in a new window/Tab” no longer works. I “check” it, click update, but it does not update.

gahhh, I just figured it out, actually.
I went back to previous posts where it DID open in a new window, and saw that my Default of
“link to Media File”
had changed to
“Link to None”.No clue why this happened, but by changing it to the correct LinkTo, I was able to select Open in New Window/Tab / Update, and it worked.

We have had several requests to have the new editor “remember” the settings for attachment links, so we are looking into this. I’ll add your request to the list.
Meanwhile, if you use the WP-Admin editor it should still remember your last-used settings, but you can also change this on the selection screen before you insert the image when you click the Add Media button.
You can also do have images open in a new window with the new editor, but at the moment you need to insert the image, then click on it and click the Link icon in the toolbar. It will automatically add the Media File link, and you will be able to select Open in a new tab.
