Images in table not displaying properly
-
Hi there, Have just posted entitled Happy Easter everyone! I prepared it in Microsoft Live Writer 2011 and created a two column table in which I inserted three images — a larger one in the left column, and two smaller ones in the right column, with copyright information underneath the images in the right column.
When I view the post in the Dashboard, it is formatted correctly. However, when viewed on the blog, it looks awry. Please help. As I don’t know how to edit the html, here’s what it shows for this post:
<table width=”400″ border=”3″ cellspacing=”3″ cellpadding=”3″>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td valign=”top” width=”200″><img style=”background-image: none; padding-left: 0; padding-right: 0; display: inline; padding-top: 0; border: 0;” title=”Chickies three” src=”http://menchu4901.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/dscn1830-53cropvertical_thumb.jpg” alt=”Chickies three” width=”291″ height=”482″ border=”0″ /></td>
<td valign=”top” width=”200″><img style=”background-image: none; padding-left: 0; padding-right: 0; display: inline; padding-top: 0; border: 0;” title=”Chickies two” src=”http://menchu4901.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/dscn1829-53crop_thumb.jpg” alt=”Chickies two” width=”242″ height=”147″ border=”0″ /><img style=”background-image: none; padding-left: 0; padding-right: 0; display: inline; padding-top: 0; border: 0;” title=”Chickies one” src=”http://menchu4901.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/dscn1826-53crop_thumb.jpg” alt=”Chickies one” width=”242″ height=”147″ border=”0″ />© 2011 menchuaustralia</td>
</tr>
</tbody>

I think valign:top is not the most current, use vertical-align:top (middle or bottom) instead.
Also, put a line break after the second small image:<table width="400" border="3" cellspacing="3" cellpadding="3"> <tbody> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top;" width="200"><a href="http://menchu4901.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/dscn1830-53cropvertical.jpg"><img style="background-image:none;padding-left:0;padding-right:0;display:inline;padding-top:0;border:0;" title="Chickies three" src="http://menchu4901.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/dscn1830-53cropvertical_thumb.jpg?w=291&h=482" alt="Chickies three" width="291" height="482" border="0" /></a></td> <td style="vertical-align:top;" width="200"><a href="http://menchu4901.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/dscn1829-53crop.jpg"><img style="background-image:none;padding-left:0;padding-right:0;display:inline;padding-top:0;border:0;" title="Chickies two" src="http://menchu4901.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/dscn1829-53crop_thumb.jpg?w=242&h=147" alt="Chickies two" width="242" height="147" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://menchu4901.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/dscn1826-53crop.jpg"><img style="background-image:none;padding-left:0;padding-right:0;display:inline;padding-top:0;border:0;" title="Chickies one" src="http://menchu4901.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/dscn1826-53crop_thumb.jpg?w=242&h=147" alt="Chickies one" width="242" height="147" border="0" /></a> © 2011 menchuaustralia</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> -
Thank you 1tess for your reply. I’ve come to like the layout the way it is the more I look at the post…weird, yes! However, next time I do something similar, will keep your suggestions in mind and see how that works at that time! Cheers! ^_^

timethief, thank you for your suggestion with this problem in my other forum post about the Mystique tabbed widget. Will take note thereof.
However, my first inclination about this issue is that the WP system obviously strips out any pertinent formatting when a blog-post has been prepared in another blog-preparation software. I had used Live Writer 2011 on another now defunct blog without any problems at all. Live Writer allows one to be more creative in style and, I understand (though I’m not sure on this), conforms with html5 standards.
