Images incorrectly sending to another site

  • Unknown's avatar

Some years ago I registered Bonsai-passion.co.uk and assigned it to my WordPress.com site. I have just started up again after a long illness and let the domain go. Someone else now has it which is fine but when clicking on my images the vast majority take you to this Bonsai Passion site which is nothing to do with me. I’ve checked but cannot make any changes to individual media files i.e delete false links etc. There has to be somewhere on the site that would permit me to remove all trace of Bonsai-passion.co.uk so that clicking on my images does not take you off to someone elses site? I’ve tried everything.

    Helpppppppp

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    hi,

“but when clicking on my images the vast majority take you to this Bonsai Passion site which is nothing to do with me”

Can you share a url of a page/post with the above images ?

I’ve been slowly going through the images and have found by pressing the copy button to ‘copied’ then updating it gets rid of the unwanted link. On this page if you simply click the first image it will take you to the unwanted link.

    Does no-one have any idea?

Hi there, can you give me a link to a page where this is happening? I’ve checked several places and the images are linking to your site.

Thank you. I had a message/suggestion to use the older WP editing and use the option for each image to remove ‘custom URL’ for ‘media file.’ This has worked perfectly. It took hours and hours but I have sorted the pages. All that is left now is the blog posts which will take forever I think. The first few blog posts are fine I’ve done the images in those. Just the rest to do.

  • Hi there,

Unfortunately there’s no automated way to do this, no. You’ll need to edit each affected post and update/remove the link for the images in the post individually.

Just a note: to do this in the new editor, click the image, then click the Link icon in the editor toolbar. You can set a different URL or remove the hyperlink there as well. Though in this case my preference is also for the editor in WP-Admin.

Thank you. It is a slow job but now I know. Again thanks
