Images look washed out

  Why do the images I upload for headers appear washed out and unsharp? Will this happen to all images I import to the blog and is there a way to correct this problem?

  The Optical Obscura, sorry. It appears the issue is only in the header. The other images I uploaded look fine. I suppose I can just live with it.

  Yeah, your images actually look sharp on my computer. And since your other photos worked, it must be the actual image and not wordpress. Usually you could sharpen up the images to your liking with photoshop or other image enhancement programs.

  It’s really just the header image. The file I uploaded was much more colorful and sharp. Anyway, thanks for the help.

  Did you upload it at the right size, or crop it after uploading? Generally you get the best results if you resize it to the right size before uploading.

  That is DEFINITELY the problem. The wp uploader is not very good when it comes to resizing. Check this for a demonstration:
