images missing but meta data ok
-
At this post, http://ykalaska.wordpress.com/2007/10/15/blog-action-day-even-in-small-things-considered/ I noticed only one image displays. However, when I search my media, there are the descriptor (everything but the image) for one and the other doesn’t show at all.
http://ykalaska.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/spider-40531.jpg [entirely missing]
http://ykalaska.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/spider-40530.jpg [no image but description]
Don’t know when this happened and don’t know how to get it corrected.
I looked through forum and support but didn’t find anything covering this.

@raincoaster: No that’s not it, because the one image that does show up has exactly the same type of name, just with a different number. (But the URLs of the other two give a 404, so ykalaska will have to re-upload them anyway.)

Thanks. I’ll re-load, but the main question is how come the backend lost them in the first place? Why one totally gone and one partially gone and one ungone? Do I have to view all posts to find other missing in action?
Is there a quick way to review one’s site to track problems with the backend? These issues aren’t predictable, unless users should always check upon updates or after the annual Christmas snow.
[I do have a Firefox check links option and another program for checking weblinks]

When I re-uploaded the images, WP changed the filename by adding a digit– spider-40531.jpg becomes spider-405311.jpg
This would imply that my original image is still there but WP has lost track of it.

Another error– There is only one image on this post but two listed in the media collection. When image two is clinked on in the media collection, it is image one which appears.
Bethel frog JPG 2007/08/06 http://ykalaska.wordpress.com/wp-admin/media.php?action=edit&attachment_id=539bethel-frog0267.jpg 2007/08/06 http://ykalaska.wordpress.com/wp-admin/media.php?action=edit&attachment_id=537
The image in the post is http://ykalaska.wordpress.com/files/2007/08/bethel-frog0267.jpg
Also–The last page of my media collection (the first to be uploaded) has “view” button captions for the post above it, not the post to which the image belongs.
I’ll just report the whole thing to support, then.

1. Don’t give links to your admin page – we don’t have access to them.
2. When you reupload an image, it will always get an extra number attached to its name to distinguish it (even if you have deleted the previous upload). Because of this, using similar names that end with different numbers will eventually get things confused. Use more characteristic names whose last part is NOT a number.
