images move – captions don't
-
Hi Guys
When dragging an image to a new location, using the visual editor:
- the image moves.
- the caption and gray box don’t.
- the caption and gray box can be deleted.
- the image won’t accept a new caption.
This problem isn’t theme dependent. I’ve switched to another them, as a test, and had the same problem.
My browser, Firefox 8.0.1
The only way I can move images in the visual editor is to delete them and then insert them in the new location.
Just a heads up guys. WordPress is great!

Hello there,
Will you please post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question? If you can will you also please post a link to the post or page where this image caption issue can be viewed? -
You can’t drag and drop a captioned image. You need to delete it and re-insert it where you want it.

Hi Guys
The blog: http://beenatural.wordpress.com
I’ve tried moving captioned images on multiple pages and on another blog http://mineralfire.wordpress.com with the same results.
I’m sure that, in the past, I’ve been able to drag both the image and the caption. Is this a new feature? :-) Or am I in error.

Hi Guys
I could be in error about wordpress.com. I work with a couple of self-hosted wordpress.org blogs. The wordpress software on those blogs is up to date. And both images and captions move when they are dragged inside the visual editor.
Maybe I’ve confused what’s always been normal/possible on wordpress.com versus what’s possible on self hosted wordpress blogs.
But I suspect that somewhere along the way, the wordpress.com editor has been left grabbing the wrong div.

FWIW the upgrades to WordPress software are experienced here at WordPress.com for about a month before they are released and made available to WordPress.org users.

Hi Guys
Just upgraded my self hosted site to WP 3.3. Now it moves images just like wordpress.com does. :-)
Anyway, the WP team probably has bigger fish to fry. But I suspect they will fix this new feature eventually.

Hi Guys
This isn’t a major problem. Just an inconvenience. The HTML editor is still available:
- open by clicking on the HTML tab at the upper right of the editor.
- find the code associated with the image.
- highlight everything between and including [caption id=.... through... /caption]
- cut it.
- paste it at it’s new location in the HTML editor.
- switch back over to the visual editor by clicking the Visual next to the HTML tab.
