Images not displaying in portfolio
-
I am using the Illustratr theme to create a portfolio. When I add a project and then view my portfolio, all I am able to see is the title I assigned, despite the fact that I am choosing the “Image” format. Please help. Right now my portfolio looks like a bunch of words on a page.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is the result of clicking your username link in an attempt to locate the blog wearing the Illustratr theme.
likethemoviesdotcom.wordpress.com is no longer available. The authors have deleted this site.
And this is an empty WordPress.COM blog wearing the Bueno theme. http://yourtastebud.wordpress.com/
I’m sorry but we cannot provide accurate answers to any blogger who fails to provide the exact URL starting with http:// for the exact blog they refer to so we can verify where it is hosted. Please do that now.

Thanks, but this isn’t exactly my problem. I have successfully made my portfolio appear on my homepage, but only the project titles (text) show up. I would like all of the associated images to be visible as well, rather than having to click the titles and follow the links to the images. I hope I am explaining myself clearly. Thanks

I’m not seeing any portfolio projects on your homepage at the moment – did you remove them?
It looks like you don’t currently have any portfolio projects published under Portfolios – they are all in the trash.

When you add each project, make sure each one has a featured image. You can learn more about how to set up portfolios on our support page, and the Illustrator guide has some good information as well.
If you get stuck again, let me know!

Hi Mark, I see both the image and title on your portfolio page:
http://dogwriter.org/portfolio/
Please feel free to upload a screenshot so I can understand what you’re seeing.
Here’s a guide on how to make a screenshot, if you’re not sure: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/
You can upload the screenshot – in a graphic format like JPG, PNG, or PDF – in your Media Library so I can see it. Thanks.

Thanks so much for your instant reply, Kathryn.
Clicking the photoshoot image is supposed to take us to the gallery, but there is just the title. the project format is set as gallery and the photos show in the editor.
What you are seeing is also on my front page, which is my main concern.
What’s odd is the other project is displaying correctly. Clicking on the picture of me and the dog takes us to the text. Format is standard.
-
Thanks for clarifying, Mark. Would you mind closing the Photo Shoot post in your editor so I can take a look, or may I take over editing?
-
Please, take over editing! I am so happy right now.
A possible issue, though I don’t see how, is I created a non-default static page with the portfolio template and made it the front page. Yet, the two projects are appearing on the front page, per Illustratr default.
-
Thanks! So, for the Photo Shoot post issue, I think you’ve found a bug. :-)
Switching the post format to Standard displays the content of the post correctly, while the Gallery post format does not. I’ll let our developers know about this bug so we can get it fixed up. For now, I’ve left the post with the Standard post format so the content is visible.
I’m going to look at your other issue now: “What you are seeing is also on my front page, which is my main concern.”
-
What you are seeing is also on my front page, which is my main concern.
I think the reason for this is that you’ve selected the Portfolio Page Template for your homepage here:
https://dogwriterdotnet.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=34&action=edit
This template displays a sample of portfolio projects below your page content, which is why you’re seeing the two projects there. Try selecting the Default Template instead.
-
Voila! Yes it was a bug! Front page is working great. Cute dog, eh?
While I got you, is there any way to turn off the header pic on all the other pages and projects? Or is it an Illustratr default? I see other people want to turn it off too, it is kind of a no brainer design issue. The pics are redundant. Using a featured image doesn’t displace the header pic.
Regardless, I am so very happy now! Thanks Kathryn for resolving my issue so quickly!!!!

Custom headers are usually displayed site-wide in most themes. Specifying on which pages the header is shown would require some custom CSS, with the Custom Design upgrade. If you decide to go that route, let me know and we can work out the necessary CSS.

Hi Mark,
I have now fixed the gallery issue. Sorry for the inconvenience :(
