images not displaying properly and possible new blog needed.
-
Hello! I’ve had my blog for a while now. The last time I made a post, which was a while back, the images overlapped and did not display properly, which you can probably see for yourself. I’m wondering what went wrong?
Also, I just set up a new website, with a new provider/service. I still have not as yet linked my blog, as I’m thinking of starting an entirely new blog / theme fresh, to coincide with my website. I guess if I do this there is no way to link my past posts / comments to the new blog? Would I need to delete the current blog if I start a new, fresh blog, given the same name? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
I do see what you mean about the image overlapping. It looks like you’ve set your gallery to display five columns. It looks like the images your using, with five straight across, are too wide to be displayed in your content area. I would remove that addition from the gallery short code.
If you move to a new provider, but continue using WordPress software, you can easily move all of your content from this site to your new one:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
If you’d like to change the theme on your current site, you can do that without losing any of your content! Just select a new theme from our showcase:
If you would like to create a new WordPress.com site with the same title as your current one, you’ll actually just want to rename your current site. You can do that by following these directions:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/
In Step 6, select No. And do NOT check the box in Step 7.
Your new site will hold all of your old content and your current site, douglasfrierottphotography.wordpress.com will be empty and you can start fresh!
Let me know if I can clarify anything for you! :)

Hey Shawna,
I appreciate all the info. you provided regarding my blog issues.
I do have a further question…..
regarding the gallery display set to five columns, which i guess is too wide, i’ve just spent quite a bit of time on my blog back end and can’t seem to figure out how to adjust the column width? what does “remove the addition from the gallery short code” refer to, and how is this done?
Thank you!! -
Sure! Sorry I wasn’t more clear there! If you open that post in your Text editor, you’ll see a code that looks like this:
[gallery columns="5" ids="707,709,710,708,711,712,713,714,715,716,717,718,719,720,721,722,723,724,725,726,727"]Just remove the “columns=”5″” from that bit there and the gallery should find a good default that won’t overlap the images.
Adjusting the column width would have to be done with CSS, which you’ll need the Custom Design upgrade for. Since we’re displaying thumbnail images, which I believe are 300px x 300px, in order to fit more columns, you would need to edit the width of your content area.
Let me know if I can help further!
