Images not loading

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, the images on my site only load sporadically. I have cleared my cache and updated my browser, but that has not solved the problem.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

Just to be clear, are you speaking about your site:

    http://thetenantadvocate.wordpress.com/

And are all images failing to load, or just some of them? Also, are the images on your other sites loading or are just the images on this one site not coming through? Are they partially pulling up and then timing out or are they broken images from the beginning?

Sorry for so many questions, but it will help me track down the issue!

    Thanks so much!

Thanks so much for the help! Yes, that is the site I am referencing.

Sometimes it’s just the header, other times it’s all images. This is the only site I have.

They aren’t timing out, they are broken images from the beginning. If I reload 5-10 times, however, they’ll pop up eventually.

    Heya,

It’s sounding a bit like you’re having some connectivity problems with getting to our servers. Could you do me a favor and do a traceroute to the address:

    s1.wp.com

If you’re unsure on how to run a traceroute, we create a help article right here:

    Advanced Browser Troubleshooting

Please run the traceroute and then send back the results, hopefully it will give me an idea of what the issue is!

    Thanks again! Here you go:

Hmmm, that’s strange! Nothing seems to be showing as slow or problematic in your traceroute at all.

A couple more questions if you don’t mind!

Are you looking at your site from a work computer or a computer which is behind any sort of firewall? If so, have you tried viewing it directly (without the firewall)?

Has the same issue happened on another browser? Another computer? Or on another network? If you’ve not tried, would you please give it a whirl?

I know you said that you don’t have any other sites with us, but I see that you’ve got three total on this account (the others may be older). You can see them listed when you log in to your Dashboard and then go to My Blogs. Could you check them out and see if they give you the same troubles?

    Thanks a bunch!

Sorry for the slow reply and thanks again for your help!

The problem occurs while at the office, so I’ll check the site from home tonight and see if the images load… that could be the problem.

I’ve tested on Firefox and Chrome, and both also have problems.

I have two other sites but I never did anything with them… I only use The Tenant Advocate.

    Thanks!

Let me know how things load when you’re viewing them from your home computer. I don’t want to lay blame on an at-work network unnecessarily, however depending on the security settings which have been put in place, that may be what is causing the images to not load.

    Let me know!

Low and behold…. worked perfectly from home so it must be a firewall, right?

What should I tell my IT guy so he knows how to fix it?

  • Unknown's avatar

Honestly, if you could ask him to whitelist *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com, then that would probably be the easiest solution. It should allow the images to load as well as any other javascripts which are required by the website in order for it to work correctly.

Hopefully that will work for him or her!

(also, hooray that that’s what it turned out to be! :) )

I’ll give it a try, thank you so much again for the awesome customer support!
