images not loading on pages

Suddenly images are unable to appear on my pages after being uploaded. The images appear in my page edit view and can be re-sized and everything else but when I publish the page it does not appear on the page. This is happening with multiple files and multiple pages and just began recently in the last day or two. However, older pages still are able to show images and media that were uploaded onto them.
I have read online from many sources that it may be a permission issue or some other issue regarding directories. I have tried many solutions but nothing has worked. Assistance would be much appreciated.
