Images not showing on iOS

Hello, I publish content and images from my Android phone and from my windows laptop, however, folks using iPhone or iPad cannot see photos.
Images / site all display correctly on Android, Windows and desktop Mac.
On iOS I have tried multiple browsers with same outcome (Chrome/Safari).
On iOS I have tried clearing cache.
On website I have switched themes off and I have no plugins, still doesn’t work.
On iOS, if I click “customize” then it shows photos.This is a private site for sharing family events, pulling my hair out trying to find a solution. I know Apple recently released a big security patch, things worked fine a few months ago, appreciate any insight?

Hi Amirudra789, I just tried switching from private to public and interestingly that seems to be the issue. Public mode everything works, private mode I get little white circle and no photos show anywhere. Thoughts?

When you set a site to private, that means that all media on the site is also private. Typically if you can’t see it (even though it’s your own site) it indicates that you may not be logged in to WordPress.com in your browser
With that in mind I’d check on this page in your browser in iOS and confirm that you are logged in? https://wordpress.com/log-in/
If you are logged in you will be asked to “continue” and if you are not logged in you will see a login form. Once you confirm you are logged in do you see the images as normal?
Also if you can share with us the URL to a post that has this missing image issue, as well as indicate which image(s) in that post will not display for you in iOS we can take a closer look. You do not need to set your site to public as we have the access we need as staff, thanks!

If you are not logged in the site says that “this is a private site and you are required to login”.
I found this entry where other users have same issue. Weirdly if I set as public, view on iOS it works and continues to work after I reset to private (maybe caching locally?).

A comment was made that sounds like it could be root cause: “The current impression is this is another case were Apple’s third party cookie security policies are creating unexpected hurtles”

And yes it says continue when I go to above url.

Great find!
As you can see, this seems to be an intermittent issue that some users have reported having. The developers are aware of it, but we don’t have an ETA for a fix.
