Images not showing on my blog.

    I just noticed that many of the images of my old blog posts are not opening, but are appearing as clickable links, which opens them in a separate tab.

    For example, check these links :

    Wanderings through a Wonder

    Experiencing Shanghai

    Can anyone help, please?

    Hi @arpangob,

    I look at the source of your first link.

    The first image file that is trying to be displayed is not reachable at the link in the source.

    It seems to me that the image that should be displayed should be really pointing to this link?

    I.e. things aren’t matching up. Maybe the i1.wp.com link is old/outdated/no longer in use? You might have to go in and update those links.

    I hope that makes sense.

    With the exception of the i1.wp.com image link that @marklchaves mentioned, which is being served from Photon CDN, if I open the broken image link in a new window, the image opens. I don’t get a 404-missing error like I would if the images are no longer there.

    I see this is happening on many posts so I’ve tagged this for Staff assistance. Please be patient while waiting for their reply.

    Hi there,

    Did you import your content from a self-hosted site with the domain, goodoldboots.com? I see an import in your site’s logs from 6 months ago, and the html of that post indicates that the image should be fetched at that domain, not from your media library.

    If that’s the case, it looks like all the images might not have been transferred correctly, and those that did transfer did not have their links rewritten to the new site’s library. This could happen if the new site was taken offline before the images completed transferring.

    We might be able to fix the links so the images that were imported will at least show, but if the original site has already been taken offline we have no way of fetching the missing images.

    Please confirm if I’m correct regarding the content being imported, and let me know if the old site is still online or not, and we can see if there’s anything we can do.

    @justjennifer, yep. The photon URL is trying to fetch the image from goodoldboots.com, not the WordPress.com site’s library.
