Images not showing up on homepage view after changing theme
-
I’d been using Pilcrow theme on my blog for many years and recently switched to Outspoken premium theme. Now I find that the image(s) inserted in more than 650 posts have stopped showing up on homepage excerpt view.
I had to manually edit each post and make the already inserted images as a featured image. This worked and now the posts show ‘featured image’ in homepage view but I don’t know how to do it in hundreds of posts. I did manual editing in a few recent posts and it’s very time taking exercise.
Ideally the theme should pick the image from the post and show them as featured image. What is the easiest way out?

I don’t know of any quick fix for this. I tagged this thread for Themes Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

It looks like you’ve already been issued a refund for Outspoken so you’ve decided not to use it.
Some themes that rely on featured images display a “fallback image” in case the post doesn’t include one. For example, it may pull in the first image attached to the post and display it in the same spot the featured image would be displayed. Going that route has some pros and cons, and is a decision made by the theme’s designer. In the case of Outspoken, it’s not something they decided to do.
If you decide to purchase another premium theme, the best place to ask about that theme is in its own forum. The developer will answer you directly there, and they can explain their design decisions more fully. Each premium theme has its own forum, for example here’s Outspoken’s:

Thanx @galois and @kathrynwp. I got tired with making changes and finally reverted to the free theme. I have another account with two blogs running on Outspoken theme from scratch so I didn’t face this problem with them.
