Images not uploading and when they are they get replicated in the media library

    Hello,

I have problems uploading images to my media library through the Add New button on the media library. I often get the following error: ”Post-processing of the image failed likely because the server is busy or does not have enough resources. Uploading a smaller image may help. Suggested maximum size is 2500 pixels.”, even when the images are smaller than the said image size.

I have tried to upload my images using my FTP, which has worked, but then I don’t see then on my media library. I have used three different plugins to “register” the images to my media library and none of them had worked. I tried to upload images one at a time, and also multiple images at a time and nothing worked. So far I’ve used:
    – Add from Server (never worked)
    – Media from FTP (Worked a few times, replicated the images)
    – Media Sync (Dry run would work, but the real upload without dry run wouldn’t)

In my of my many attempts while using media sync, after a dry run I would get a message saying that the image already existed, then I would click on the link of the image and it would actually open in a new tab, and the image seemed to exist, it had a permalink and everything, but then I wouldn’t see the image in my media file. I would see an incomplete image upload thumbnail instead.

I have researched for hours, and haven’t found how to solve my problem. What I found was that I could debug my WordPress but I have no idea how to do that and I’m afraid I might break the code, so I don’t want to even try that myself.

I also went on my hosting’s Cpanel and checked my wp-uploads and realized that every single image I uploaded in the past have been replicated 12 times in 12 different, random and unrequested sizes, which as a result is eating up my disk capacity and perhaps that is the reason why I can’t upload my images, maybe that is the reason why my server seem not to have resources? but neither of these random image resizes are anywhere to be found within my wordpress. I only found out by going to my cpanel in my hosting site.

Why are my images being replicated to different sizes? and where are all these images? if I delete all the unwanted random sizes of the same image, will that also delete the image I originally uploaded?. This happened when I was trying with Media from FTP, and whenever I would delete the replicated images, then the original image would break, and not open anymore.

I am not a developer and have very little developing knowledge, so please, when you reply try to explain things as simple as possible.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hey @maven7467

It seems you’ve posted your question on the wrong forum.

If you’re using the open source version of WordPress.org software at another host, you can ask for help on the WordPress.org forum: https://wordpress.org/support/forums

This forum is for WordPress.com hosted sites only. You can learn more about the differences of WordPress.com and WordPress.org from the help documentation: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

May I ask you why would you think I posted my question in the wrong forum? and what makes you think my website is not on wordpress.com?

Mine is a hosted website, as it’s clearly stated when I mentioned having gone to my Cpanle on my hosting’s website. I hope others don’t get away from answering my question and giving me support based on your reply.

    Hello @maven7467

May I ask you why would you think I posted my question in the wrong forum?
A WordPress.com hosted website does not use a Cpanel rather it uses Admin dashboard.

Please what is your website address?

Blue Host uses Cpanel; when I referred to my hosting’s website I meant my website hosting’s website, hence: Blue host.

My website is http://www.mamagoesabroad.com, it’s under construction.

    @maven7467

Since your website is hosted at Bluehost this mean you’re using the open source version or WordPress.org hosted at Bluehost. While a WordPress.com website are hosted on WordPress.com.

In this case all question regarding WordPress.org are posted on the WordPress.org help forum: https://wordpress.org/support/forums

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are separate entities though they share similarities. You can read about their difference from the help documentation: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

I hope this clarifies your question?
