Images Not Uploading – STILL

  A couple of days ago (July 29-30-ish) there were issues with images not uploading, and there was a thread of discussion running about it at the time which has apparently disappeared since then. I was unable to upload images the other day, but I’m able to upload images today.

  THE PROBLEM IS: Every image that I tried to upload the other day and was unable to upload still won’t upload today. I’ve deleted all the old attempts out of the Media Library, but these images still won’t upload. I’ve tried re-naming them, but no go. I’ve reloaded them from the CD to the computer I’m working from (which is a completely different — and completely new processor (just upgraded today) from the one I used two days ago and these images will NOT upload. All I get is a white box with a red “X”.

  Anything I didn’t try to upload the other day uploaded fine today, but nothing I tried to upload the other day will upload today.

  HELP! I’ve got to get this blog updated prior to launching two other projects and nothing can go ahead until I get it done. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!

  I just went and read the forums on uploading images and tried clearing my cache (which seems silly, since I just started using this BRAND NEW computer two HOURS ago, so there is no way that the computer’s cache could have memorized the web pages I was browsing two DAYS ago). After clearing the cache anyway, the old images STILL will not upload. It seems as if there is some kind of memory at WordPress that is rejecting them.

  Have you tried renaming the images? Also, be careful on the file names – like no spaces.

  Also no punctuation, no slashes, underscores, anything fancy. The images must be one of the approved types, too. No BMPs, for example. Sorry if this is obvious, but it bears repeating.

  I have re-named them. Several times. I have removed punctuation. I have tried it on Windows XP and today on Windows Vista. Nothing is working.

  Please keep sending ideas, though . . .

  Oh, and yes, they are all jpg images. No bitmaps, no TIFFs, nothing that’s not supposed to work on WP. Really. I promise.
