Images opening as gallery instead of large image
-
Hi everyone,
I’ve noticed that just recently the images I insert into my posts, are not linked to the large JPG-srouce anymore. Instead, a page opens where you can browse through the images of the post.
As I did not specify any “gallery” or something, I am wondering why this behavior has changed. How come these kind of things get changed anyway? Most of my users expect the former behavior (klick on an image opens just the jpeg source, not a gallery).
Thanks for any suggestions!
Best,

Sure. Here it is:
http://troisetoiles.de/2011/10/21/facil-lukullische-oase-am-potsdamer-platz/(click on any image to see what I mean).
Vs. an older post: http://troisetoiles.de/2011/04/27/le-meurice-midi-a-paris/
The images were all added and inserted the same way.

When you inserted your images, under “Link URL” you had “post URL” selected instead of “file URL.”
Open that post in the editor, click on each image, click on the edit image button at upper left of the image, and in the window that opens click “link to image” under Link URL and click the update button.

Hi,
thanks for getting back in touch. Okay, I see what you mean. Apparently, though, this behavior has changed. The “link to image” setting was the default before.
Nonetheless, the method mentioned above does not quite work. Just for the record: To change the link of an image that was previously a “post link” back to a “link to image”, you have to go to the “Advanced Settings” tabs first, then copy the image’s source and paste it back into “Link URL” of the first tab. Otherwise, a wrong source is being used (404).

That is weird. I tested it in my test blog and it worked just fine for me.
Sometimes settings change seemingly by themselves (non-benevolent elves?). No one know why, they just do.
Strange though about editing it. I’ll have to test that again.

You are welcome. The important thing is you now have a solution and when inserting images from now on just take a quick glance at that setting and look at the URL. Too bad there isn’t some indicator to tell which setting is active. They need to add something like that. Perhaps an “active” color for the button or something.
