Images Out Of Order

Okay, I can upload images in the new WordPress version and I can even get them to post into my write page. However, I cannot get them in order. I can load up to three images and thereafter all successive images will be placed at the top of the post instead of immediately after the last image. Sometimes I can only post one image and then all subsequent images will be placed on top. If I delete the image and try again I get the same result. I have seemingly tried all options with uploading, I have gone through many questions here in the forum and I’m still stuck. All I want is for the image to appear in my post after the prviously uploaded image.

I can suggest a workaround until someone has a real solution.
View in the HTML editor and copy and cut the HTML code for each image and paste it where it you want it to be.
The code will look something like:
< img src=”http://yourblogURL/files/2008/04/imagename.jpg” alt=”” class=”alignnone size-full wp-image-1960″ / >

Thanks mikecane. Yeah, I had thought of that too. Not sure about switching back and forth from visual to html though. Plus it’s labor intensive. :-( No one else has replied though so I may be stuck.

Finally found a way to do it. Just on a whim downloaded Firefox and was able to upload my fotos in the order I wanted. However, Firefox will not function in text mode. So, back to IE7 to write the text to accompany the fotos. :-( Come on, wordpress, give me a little help here.

Go to your html editor of your post and insert the photo where you want it to be placed.

That’s odd, unless I’m misunderstanding what you mean.
You might also want to try something like BlogDesk.

Culturally, I am able to upload and insert into mypost. The problem is that when I try to insert more fotos then they post to the top of the post and not where I have my cursor. This is with IE. Firefox allows me to insert them into my post in the order I want.
Mikecane, yeah, this is odd. Firefox to upload and insert the fotos. Then when I try to place my cursor in the post to add text Firefox won’t allow me to. So, back to IE and I can add all the text I want. Very, very cumbersome.
WordPress was not broken. Why oh why did they fix it?

I also find that it takes a long time to upload a heap of photos how i used to do it. I setout my pages with full sized photos, aligned left.
It seems that now it is a two-step process… first, i have to upload all my photos to the site…. then i have to INDIVIDUALLY place each photo onto my page/blog – which means going into the new flash, finding the image, then clicking full size, align left… then pasting image onto page. (repeat process 60 times over, and 45 minutes later!!…)
Is there a way i can do this FASTER?… it is truly a BALL-ACHE now – Help?

You should be able to post a Gallery; is that not what you want? In other words go to Write a post, start uploading, and everything you upload when you’re on that particular Write page will be in the Gallery for that page. There is a way to insert the entire gallery, but I can’t recall it off the top of my head. Anyone?

My solution for adding photos so that the new ones go to the bottom instead of to the top is to edit the date of your uploads. Since the newest ones default to the top, simply re-date the photos/blogs for an earlier date and they will then move further down.

Paul, we had some people spreading their sigs in a rather hooliganish manner, hence my blunt notice. It’s nice that you reacted and correct this for the future.

I totally understand and will be careful in the future. I appreciate the “gentle touch” in pointing out my foix paux, however you spell that! Hope my solution helps. I think I actually found it here, in the forum, long ago when I was having the exact same problem.

Oh yeah. I hate that too. For posts with many images, I’ve switched to using an offline editor (in my case, BlogDesk). (raincoaster will forgive my evangelizing this!)

Thanks Mikecane for that info – i’ll try and find an offline editor for MAC.
FYI – i like to upload lots of images, and provide commentary/notes between them – storybook style i guess – rather than a ‘gallery/splattering’ of thumbnails… so this change has truly affected the way i used to use wordpress.
