Images posted in blog deleted or not showing

    I had posted 3 blogs and two of my blogs “Sparrows of Kharghar and a fable on them” and “Alarming number of deaths – protecting our wildlife” had many photos in them which were relevant to the context and enhanced my blog. Till yesterday these photos were visible on my blog but today when I logged in to check my blogs I was shocked to find that the photos have vanished. The captions are there but the photo boxes are blank. Has it happened due to some virus or bug or did someone get access to my account? Please help in restoring back to my blogs as without the photos my blogs look like lifeless.

    Have you deleted images recently that are part of your published posts ?

    Are the photos upload to your blog’s media section or are you hotlinking the images from another website ?

    If all the photo boxes are blank, then you’re having a connection problem.

    Some of your photos give a question-mark (or the like, depending on the browser), and clicking on them gives a 404/not found response, which probably means you deleted the files from your Media Library.

    Also note that the names you’ve been giving to your files (“photo-0241.jpg”, “bird-1.jpg”, etc.), can lead to problems. When you re-upload an image, a number is added to the original name to distinguish the new copy: “nicepic.jpg” reuploaded will become “nicepic1.jpg”, if reuploaded again it will become “nicepic2.jpg” etc. So an actual “bird-11.jpg” may be confused with a copy of “bird-1.jpg” and mess things up. So avoid generic names that end with a number.

    I had uploaded the images to my blog’s media section. I checked there. Only few photos were there and these photos were appearing in my sparrow blog. Maybe they accidentally got deleted by me or so….I don’t know. So I have again uploaded the missing photos in my blogs.

    Thanks panaghiotisadam and slikbonez. Your points helped me to identify the problem. I uploaded the photos with their original names. So second time when I uploaded it number 1 was added to the original name. I’ll take care to have different names for the photos in future. Thanks guys! :-)
