Images Showing Up As Links After Migration/ Only Alt Text Is Visible

    I recently migrated a site from wordpress.org to wordpress.com. The domain remained the same. Everything looks normal except that I am having a problem with most of my imported images. (Featured images that were imported are working fine. If I upload new images they also work. ) Instead of showing the image in the post, it shows an icon and a link to the image. When you click on the link, it opens the image. Also, my alt text is now showing in the post and on the blog page for some images not others.

    I have tried with generic wordpress themes (the ones titled after the years from 2019 to 2022) as well as the current theme i have loaded. Same problems.

    Initially the image URLS were showing as i0.wp but I turned off jet pack accelerator and jetpack lazy loading and now the URLs look normal. I checked and it looks like all the images are in my media library. I tried different browsers, cleared browser cache, and verified same issues are happening on desktop and mobile. I feel like I must be missing something simple.

    What’s weird is that the first image which is the album art loads fine, but the next two images are just links and the alt text is showing.
